I have worked in the craft beer industry since 2013. I graduated from Siebel Institute of Technology with a WBA Master Brewers Certificate. Brewing at all areas of production at Stone Brewing Co., Angel City Brewery, Head Brewer at Helmsman Ale House, Head Brewer at Rad Beer Co, and Director of Brewing Operations at Bottle Logic Brewing.
Having the privilege of brewing at some great breweries, being able to collaborate with even more talented brewers, and visiting countless others where I have been able to visit the back of house operations is what led me to start this consulting service.
A common theme I have noticed at breweries is often that the brewers learned processes from previous places of employment. When you get a team of brewers that worked at different facilities, you get multiple brewers handling the same brands, but processing them according to their experience or preference. This can lead to wild variation from batch to batch, which causes product inconsistency, customer confusion and degradation of brand loyalty.
Having a team that adheres to the same processing standards is paramount to consistent product. Brewing beer is challenging enough having to adjust to ingredient variance season to season. Adding process variance is a recipe for inconsistent beer.
While I have been integral in the development of multiple award winning beers, my strength as a Brewer is my ability to create the best processes to ensure sanitary product handling, minimizing oxygen pickup, retaining delicate flavors and aromas, and training teams to understand and adhere to these processes to be able to replicate outstanding recipes batch after batch.
